Most of us have read the books, we know our attachment style, we’ve done the therapy and we’ve sat in the workshops and nodded along and left feeling like something almost shifted.
And yet, there’s still that moment in the middle of a good relationship where you can’t quite let it full in, still that tightening when someone gets too close, still that version of you that gives everything and quietly resents it, still that particular loneliness of being surrounded by people who love you and feeling completely unreachable.
Knowing why you do it turns out not to be the same thing as actually changing it and this evening is about the part that comes after the insight.
Opening to Love is an intimate embodiment experience for women who are ready to feel the difference rather than just understand it.
Over the course of the evening we’ll explore what I like to call the three states of the heart: open, defended, and collapsed and not just conceptually but as felt, physical, unmistakable experiences in your own body.
Because your heart doesn’t speak in frameworks, it speaks in sensation, in breath and in the split second before you pull away from someone who’s getting too close.
This evening creates space to feel the difference between love that costs you and love that fills you, between performing openness and actually inhabiting it and between the heart that’s working very hard and the heart that finally gets to rest.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Breath, movement and a room that feels nothing like the rest of your week.
We’ll move through a guided breathwork journey, some gentle somatic movement, and a partner exercise that is disarmingly simple and quietly one of the most connecting things you can do with another human being.
Nothing will be forced or performed and you won’t be asked to share more than you want to or go anywhere you’re not ready to go.
What you will be asked to do is show up, as you are and let the evening do the rest.
How you’ll feel when you leave:
Alive, not in a way you can fully explain at first, just a warmth in your chest that wasn’t there before and a softness behind your eyes.
The particular feeling of having been completely yourself in a room full of people and realising that nothing bad happened, you’ll walk out with a practical tool to come back to this feeling whenever love starts to feel like work again.
But the real thing you’ll carry home is harder to name than that; it’s the felt memory of what it’s like to stop performing, to stop managing, to stop holding everyone else together for one evening.
And to remember, in your body, not just your head, that you are not too much, that you are not hard to love, that the version of you underneath all the effort is not only enough, she’s beautiful.
